final drive
 

My buddy at work has a '88 or '89 crx with original motor and is looking for a better final drive.. something like 4.7 or 4.9..

He talked to houseman about making him a 4.9 and he quoted $1500.. now he doesn't race, just looking for some more spirited driving so he's looking to spend more like $150.. so that was out of the question.. any suggestions on what he could do?

honestly rob.. for 150$ there isnt much he can do.. i'd say leave that 150$ towards maintence so the car runs better.

There probably are better geared transmissions that he can use, but buying an old transmission is not something I like to suggest (plus you might as well do a clutch kit while its out and that right there is $200)

Rob, tell him to save the money and forget about the FD idea. Heck even for an amateur racer, 1500 is quite an investment.
