x2 for turbo

it's the preferred method for me for several reasons. 1. increases efficiency immensly - makes a small displacement engine peform like an engine 3 times it's size 2. expandability... you can ALWAYS add more 3. reliability... built right, a turbo engine can last as long as any other engine out there 4. power curve is totally nice... torque comes on strong and holds... HP climbs almost exponentially 5. finally, the driving experience... how the car actually feels under boost. there are few things that are sexier than pressure in the intake manifold. the rush is incredible. IMO... everyone here should strive to drive a talon or a WRX. those cars really give you a great feel for what psi are all about.

cheating how for the least amount of monye you can get the easiest gain of 50hp+....
now a turbo is beter as the powere is always there, but for a quick boost, nitrus is good for the bang.

I started the poll and Im the Only one who voted for Nitrous!!!
In my oppinion, For the money it is the best performer by far. You can still have a mildly modified car that with a $1500 Nitrous system, can Destroy a car with a $3000 Turbo system. Why is it like cheating? Its money well spent. When your racing, you turn it on, you win. Period. There are downfall's to every method and thats why I started this poll. You can spend $2000-3000 on a turbo and get a 60-90whp gain on 94 octane. But thats about it on a stock bottom end unless your running race gas. With Nitrous you can throw a 60 or 75 shot in for Under a $1000. But the real reason I like it is because you don't have to drive to work in the Morning with a Turbo. You can drive around Normally with a Mildly modified car that is an Absolute Killer on the Bottle. Make's a Pretender a Contender.......

turbo you dont have to flip like 10 switches to get power, its just there. Also what kinda setup for nitrous would you run ($1500) that would "destroy" a $3000 250-300whp B series turbo setup?

Well there is no "10 switches" You open the bottle and turn the system on. Its activated by Wide open throttle. Push button nitrous is purley for the Movies. ANd with $1500 you could buy a complete system with a remote opener and an Aftermarket ignition box thats retards timing when on the juice. Add a fuel pressure saftey switch and you've got a Reliable nitrous system that has the precautions necessary to run a 75 shot if the proper fuel is used. $3000 for a Turbo Kit DOESN"T include engine internal's so the Safe limit woudl be around an 80hp gain. And even thats pushing it. With nitrous your only running it for less than 14 seconds at a time. So what is stressing your motor out more? Running FUll power all the time?...Or only when your racing? On top of the fact you can get the same HP and Torque gain for half of the money.

so you still need to purge the bottle do you not etc? meaning if for some reason you were street racing the other person would need to wait for you to purge etc?

I would think instantly bumping the output of the car by 75hp a few time would be more stressful than having boost come on gradually? for $3000 you could put a turbo kit together without internally doing the engine and push 300whp, if you dont think so then ok. With turbo your not running full power all the time and its not a sudden impact on the engine, boost comes on gradually whereas nitrous just hits and then shuts off.

BTW you get double the for the rating of the shot, ie. 75 shot should give you about 150 tq.

You dont' really need to purge. It just empty's vapour from the line.. And yes Turbo's are easier on Engine and Drivetrain because the Torque rolls on slowly as mentioned. But your still driving around 99% of the time with much more power and Torque. With Nitrous your engine is its stock Docile self 99% of the Time. Hence better Drivability. And 300whp without doing internal's would be disaster. Maybe not right away but that motor would not last to long. But Good post's people. I fully respect people who disagree but give reason's and Explain there View's. Club civic is actually Respectfull and Informative. Not like other sites. I started this poll to see what people prefer and it turned otu rather well.. But Where's the Supercharger guy's!!!! No one on this Whole site is rocking a Blower!!!!!.....lol

I thought purging was necessary? Well i doubt most people with a turbo setup drive around 90+% of the time in boost unless u have a really small fast spooling turbo that makes full boost at 3000rpm in which case you could be in boost almost all the time. The main reason i would choose turbo is because if your driving along and see a long stretch of clear road you dont have to push a bunch of buttons etc to open ur bottle and activate the nitrous u just stomp on the throttle and go. 300whp on a properly tuned setup running 94 octane wouldnt be a disaster IMO, as long as the engine is healthy to start with. IT wouldnt last as long as one with lower power but nothing lasts forever.

yeah im also surpised no one has mentioned SC. Ive considered it many many times just because it takes qualities from most the other types of power adders into one. ITs like N/A cause the power is always there and its like a turbo because ur relying on boost pressure to produce more power. The only downside is it takes power to make power so the gains arent as big as a turbo, cost is pretty high and ur limited on the amount of power u can make with just a blower kit (without aftercooler)
