Falken RT-615 For Daily Driver?
I'm looking at purchasing the Falken RT-615 tires but I was wondering do you think its a bit too much for a daily driven vehicle...that will MAYBE see shannonville once this year. Any inputs would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Freddy

The Rt-615 are rating at 200/A/A which means that they'll last a lot longer than a R-Compound but not as long as your standard UHP tire. For reference my General Exclaims I think are 420.
I don't think they make sense for you Freddy. Better off with a regular summer tire. You'll get more for your money.

I ran the old school falkens azenis for DD, and they suck with heavy rain. So if you have to go places these tires arent for you. I now run hankook rs-2 which are pretty dam close to the performance of the new azenis but can withstand the rain. Check them out if you have time.

Both the Hankook R-S2 and the Falken RT-615 are great max performance tires, but the trade off is treadware. Water is not much of an issue as long as you use common sense, i've driven with the R-S2 during a trenchal rain and had no problems.
The dry grip is simply amazing, nothing can compare except R compound.
But unless your really thinking of throwing that RSX around in the corners, you'd be better off with a UHP tire, something like Toyo T1-R, etc.
That said, the Rt-615 is supposed to have better braking capability due to the contact patch over the R-S2, however the R-S2 is supposed to be slightly better at dispersing water.

With the RT 615's you'll get 2 seasons max out of the tire IF you drive hard. I have them and am happy with the performance in both dry and wet conditions. It all comes down to having the bucks to replace tires every 2 years.

they should be fine as a daily driver tire. the tread wear isn't too bad depending how hard you drive. and i'm sure they'll last you if you only plan on tracking it once in a while.
they're pretty cheap too depending on your size. a 15" RT615 is a lot cheaper than a 15" T1-R tire. i've got a friend who daily drives on Advan A048R so i'm sure you'll be fine with the RT615's.
