Failed Idle e-test

Went and had my 92 hatch E tested today,

passed the highspeed test,

but on the idle test I failed HC

Limit: 200
Amount: 411

I just bought a bottle of "garenteed to pass" and im going to see if it works,

i have a 6 month old magnaflow highflow cat, new 02, all emissions hooked up on a b16a with a magnaflow muffler on a stock ecu...

I was also running 94 during the test and ripped the car hard to heat up the cat..

anyone know what to fix to improve HC at idle?

cud be it that u need a new cat. Run on 94 for a full tank atleast before u go.

Not an expert but I just went through that with my hatch...
if your cat is new, perhaps your idle is low? Not sure but isn't hi octane the worst thing you can do to run your e-test?
CHeck plugs, is your spark strong enough i.e. is coil ok?

DO NOT RUN THE 94 for your etest.

HC is unburned fuel , which means swap the plugs and maybe pop the dist cap off and clean up the connections on it and the rotor.

should help.

what did you fail it by? how many parts on the HC? the guaranteed usually only stops 20 parts (well from what i have seen) plus it wont help much if your car is having problems burning its fuel. unless that bottle you put in makes everything ignite better LOL.

change plugs and clean the dizzy connections on the cap and rotor, or replace also.

The numbers were 200 Limit for HC at idle and I had 411 Fail,

However the HC at the 2500 rpm test was normal,

200 Limit and 171 Pass,

So I should put in 91 for the test from Esso ? (Ive heard it has the lowest sulfer contents)

I'll clean up the dizzy and change the plugs too.

give the numbers for the HC,CO,and NOx for your running test, and give the number for CO for your idle test

You have a b16 in an eg, your not going to pass no matter what......especially if it is a JDM B16....

I know from experience

what 2500 rpm test??

should just be the ASM and curb idle.

unless your car is all wheel drive or has disengageable traction control/ 4wd it shouldn't have the 2500 rpm test -TSI (two speed idle)
