exhaust too loud!!!

I got a cat back exhaust last year (tenzo) and this thing is rediculously loud!!!....i put a silencer on it but the damn thing still is too loud for my liking....is there anything else i can do to make less noisy?...i thought of buying a new muffler, one that isn't loud, but is still performance...any suggestion on a good (quiet) muffler, or any ideas of how to make my current muffler make less noise?? please help out it would be appreciated, thanks

Just take it to a muffler/exhaust shop and get them to weld a resonator into your exhaust system. You don't loose any performance (and if you do it isnt really noticable) and the sound is so my better then the tinny rice crap that most imports sound like. It only cost me 80 bucks for the resonator and welded in when I got one in my teg.

Try to add a resonator like everyone else is saying. In addition, if its still extremely loud, it could be your catalytic convertor (it may need a replacing..)

being a 92 you may need to replace the cat...
but you may not need to.

But get a resonator

a cat isn't a resonator... they're two different things....

but yeah a resonator will solve your problem for sure...

my exhaust is stainless steel from the cat back, no holes...i think i'm going to go with the resonator idea.

no need for your cat though...i'm goign to get a new one when i get my headers...thanks though...why would you buy it if you have no need for it??

anyways any particularly good shops in toronto that install resonators? and any particular brands/companys i should look into/stay away from?...(ie: magnaflow etc)...please let me know...and finally how much should i be looking to invest into a resonator? thanks again for all the help, i truly appreciate it

For a new one and installation it should be around 250 - 300.

why don't you invest in a good quality muffler like Apex i, hks, zigen?
Spending another 2 to 3 bills on your initial mistake is not your solution.

Get a japanese muffler. They aren't all that loud. Alots guys on this board has them.
Stay away from the rice boy stuff (tenzo R, Toucan, APC) It will save ya money in the long run.

i've been thinking about an ITR exhaust (if i don't get a resonator)...full exhaust not just the muffler...how do these perform? and will these fit a 92 hatch?...someone on these forums is offering the whole package from the headers back.

please let me know, thanks in advance

resonator will drop it like 3-5 dB.. Best thing to do is get another QUIET exhaust.
