Exhaust Question for EK

Hey, I have been having problems with my exhaust since my swap, I put a y8 in my 96 hatch. Anyway, my exhaust is as follows: Ractive header, high flow cat, 2.25" stock pipe to stock muffler. I have two problems. The muffler rattles, mostly when the car is revving high when decelerating. I changed the muffler and it still does it. I was thinking this is because I do not have a resonator? Secondly. My pipe just before the muffler hits the lower control arm when there are people in the car (added weight). The muffler shop said they can't do much about it because the muffler has to hang low enough so the tail pipe is below the bumper. Does anyone else have this problem? What did you do? So, I was thinking about keeping the header (even though it is crap) and the cat and taking it to a good custom exhaust shop with a stock resonator and a SiR muffler and getting them to put it all together with custom bent 2.25 SS tubing. I'm hoping this will correct the pipe hitting the LCA and the muffler rattling. Just want to know your opinion on this whole ordeal. BTW, I have a rear CTR lip installed and my car has been lowered, of course. Thanks a lot!

yeah, a cheap header and no resonator makes your car 'buzzy'.

as for the pipe hitting the axle, your muffler shop hires dumb****s. they are to make two pie cuts. one on the top of the radius just before the axle, and the second on the bottom of the upper radius as it clears the axle. then, re-weld the pie cuts, and the angle of the pipe will change with respect to the muffler so the tail pipe will hang lower while the axle-back still clears the axle. its simple geometry.

For that noise, just put a resonator in the system... SS Magnaflow or Vibrant should be good enough.

You know the sound a muffler makes when the baffles go? That is what it sounds like. Thats why I put a new muffler on, but it still does it.
I guess I will have to just take my car into a good shop and get a custom exhaust job done with a resonator. That should fix the exhaust hitting and the rattling.
Thanks.
