exhaust piping size

ok... im gettin a muffler custom installed on my 98 civic ex. ive been told to get 1 1/4" aluminum and i probably will. will it be any better to go with 1 1/2", even though my car will probably stay naturally aspirated? also the muffler has a 1 1/2" inlet. will it be a problem if i want 1 1/4" piping?

...... as a side note.... what size piping is the stock ex exhaust? 2"?

do you mean the muffler is 2 1/2 inches which most are...cause i'd say if you not doin gto much to yoru car then get 2 inch piping mandrel bent (shoudlnt' cost to much money)...get teh full piping or it's pointless (full catback).

..

if you have no real intention on making any real power ( ie. dohc vtec swap), then **** mandrel. you'll be wasting your paper. just get 2" or 2 1/4" crush bent and done.

i got it and it sounds awesome. I got the OBX MTL replica so I though it would sound kinda ricer and obnoxiously loud, but to my surprise it sounds near exact to what i was hoping for

do exhausts go by car or by motor...ex: if i got a full exhaust for my 4th gen w/ d15 now, would I have to get a whole new exhaust for my b16 in the spring?

it might just need to be rerouted but you prolly dont need to replace the whole thing

well the guy was a P***Y and wouldnt change my cat. I got 2 1/4" piping. I think im just gonna hit it with a hammer and smash it cuz he said he could only replace it if it was damaged. But the cat looks to be like 2 feet long! and if i get like a powercore cat i will need the shop to add a footlong piece of pipe to fill the gap the HUGE @$$ cat took up. Is that really the cat? or was only part of it the cat?

you might be confusing the cat with the flex pipe....the cat should only be roughly a foot

well your right my cat is about a foot long but if you look at his profile it says he's from California ... and that means higher emissions standards and therefore different Cats and stuff....
