Exhaust Bolts

Well today I think one of my exhaust bolts fell off, the one that connects the downpipe to the CAT. Its those small bolts with the springs inside of them. I guess I wanted to long because I noticed my exhaust was hissing slightly but then today it got worse then as I was driving how I heard a "ting" and it sounded like the bolt fell right out on the road

Anyways, question, is there anyplace I can buy that bolt besides honda? Like CT?

I really just need the spring because I made my own version of the bolt for the rear.

most places sell that exhaust bolt/spring as a set of 2, 2 bolts, 2 nuts and 2 springs

YES... Carquest has them ultra dirt cheap. Change gasket if applicable since you're in there anyways

who me? put a bolt on wrong...no way..hehe

anyway, i guess i didnt explain it right what i ment by the threads botteming out is this.

"2 diff bolts and how I assembled It on the pipes"

See how half the bolt it just a blank barrel unlike the OEM bolt where the whole bolt is threads, thats what i ment by them botteming out...wont tighten as much as possible like the OEM bolt... maybe the CT parts guy just gave me the wrong one, the kid was probably 16 years old, he had zits for godsake! lol

Does that makes sence or puting the spring on the other side make a difference...

go to home depot and grab some metric bolts that thread all the way.

haha Cynical... that reminds me of that Simpsons episode with the beauty pageant Lil' Miss Springfield - "I said step/pause/pivot/pause/pivot/step/step, NOT step/pause/pivot/pause/pivot/step/pause!!" LOL ROFL

boukake

yes, that's wrong!! y0!

As per your picture there, werd () , the spring would go on the OTHER side of the exhaust bolt, so it would go left to right in the following order (applicable parts)

nut, washer, pipe, gasket, pipe, washer, spring, bolt.

Basically what I'm saying the spring goes OVER the unthreaded part of the bolt, then you insert it through the pipes, and nut it

upon closer inspection, it would appear that YOU DO have it correct. I looked at the diagram again and it seems to be right... BUT make sure again that it IS the way you have it. I'm pretty sure that's your problem.

haha sorry about my penmanship! lol yah the spring is over the unthreaded part.. its pretty well common sence ..

im almost 100% sure its cuz the nut meats the end of the threads so it cant tighten anymore...

yeah, then just get shorter bolts from Home Depot! If you go imperial, you can get stainless steel bolts.

how loose was it after you installed these bolts? there is supposed to be movement, the spring isnt supposed to be fully compressed...and I cant see the treads being that short that it wouldnt properly seal witha a new donut gasket in there

I put in a new doughnut too... everything seems fairly tight, i think it just needs about 2 more turns and it would seal compleately
