I am runnin a 2000 b16a2...I have the stock heads with straight pipe to the muffler....I took off the cat a while ago...just to see if it really makes that much of a diffrence...since I have had it off....after a hard accerleration into vtec range...I get a smell of exaust..very noticeable...I am thinking its a header or downpipe.. leak since I can smell it when my fans are on...if the fans are off I cannot smell it...but I don't smell it at all..unless I am givin her.. just looking for some options...or if anyone knows anything about this...thanks

u smell gas?
And u think u have an exhaust leak?
If you smell gas i would think you have a gas leak.
If you smell exhaust i would think you have an exhaust leak.

u could have a slight crack in your header and when the fans on it will pull in the fumes. i had a crack along time ago im my header and when i turn on the fan i smelled the exhaust fumes, i just went and got it welded and good as new now smell anymore

yeah i would get the car up in the air while its running and feel around with your hands (don't get too close) for exhaust escaping somewhere.
Does the car sound louder? Probably eh, with no cat.

I was running a 'test pipe' For about 2 months.. Big mistake. Cops check for these things, especially with frequent trips to the track.. They always have spot checks set out on the way :/

Its not much louder.. just more rasp. And the power gain is very minimal over a high flow (i couldnt notice a thing)

The extra noise may feel like more power to some though.. hahah.

BTW.. Fine is $360+ Tow

yeah i know. I think its hurtin how cops set up "check point" so to speak along the way to Gayuga. I mean, if people are headed to the track they should be giving out free passes not tickets. In my opinion it would deter people from going to the track, knowing that there are cops set up along the way.
I've never been stopped at one (along hwy 56) but my car looks very stock.

my buddy got a ticket for it...but they don't tow your car....300 bucks...and yes...adds a little...but not worth it...going to put high flow cat on, and ya its a fair bit louder..but I just put a silencer on my muffler to fix that problem
