ES steering rack bushings

has anyone replaced these before? my ES kit came with 4 steeringing rack bushings. I cant figure out wehre they go, i have an idea, but it seems as if i have to completely remove the lower cross member, seems like a big job that might not be worth it...

Anyone doesn this before?

I got the bigger steering bushing in(the big one with a split) it was easy, but the 4 small ones...hmm doesnt seem worht the troubles...

almost complete the full SIR front end, with ES kit its gonna handle sweet.

There are two mounting points, one on the pass side is like a ring, and there is just a clamp, it is very straight forward and easy, the other one goes on the drivers side with a large mounting bolt, Just unbolt the steering rack, and remove the stock one and the hardest part is getting the one half of the bushing behind the steering rack, (because there are two halfs to it) once you have installed that it is a piece of cake. You dont have to remove the subframe, you can change the rack without doing that. I have installed a few sets of those bushings, they are an extreme pain but worth it. Good Luck

so do the steering bushings themselves help out that much? or do you mean the kit as a whole does??

im assuming they take any slop out of the steering wheel. especially on older cars, i find the wheels loose their responciveness.

mine is a tad loose but the average person wouldn't even notice it or maybe its cause everything else is to tight the steering just seems looser

most likely... i bet thats why they included them, everythign else gets so stiff you notice all the other rubber bushings.... the weakest link sorta thing...

how hard was the rear trailing arm bushings?...its the only one left i have to do.... it seems like a hella lot of work... im almsot to exhausted to attempt it...might just pay somone to do it, cuz im sick of bushings (even with a press on hand).... I just wanna drive my fuggin car, its been offline for alomst a month now, with paint, suspension, door conversion ect....

Trialing arm bushings are not as hard as they look. The bushings are tapered so as long as you put them in from the right side you will be fine. I used a hand press, but some of my friends have just put a piece of wood over top and stood on it! I want to drive my car to man, you think a month is a long time mines been since Halloween, and its not going back online soon.

did you have to completely remove the trailing arm? and how did you get the old bushing out? did it come out easily? did you have to torch it out?

I had to get my trailing arm bushings cut out. I still have the front to do - so I'm gonna buy one of the cheap torch sets and cut out the front myself.
I also think you might be able to burn off the rubber and cut out the sleve with a hacksaw???? when I do the front I'll try that first if it doesn't work - I get a new set of torches to play with

The trailing arm bushings arent too bad, the key with some of the bushing kits, some need the outer steel to be left in the trailing arm, the thing you have to do is cut out the rubber and thats all. Check your instructions before pressing the bushing out. Wont take you too long
