ES bushing questions
My engine mounts are going, specially my rear tranny mount. I was opting for ES bushings but heard they are somewhat stiff and vibrate the car, which i dont mind too much as I rather have a nice firm ride.
Anyone using them and can comment?
On another note someone mentioned if my mount is going i should replace it with a new OEM mount, but is that nessessary or do the ES bushings just take over the old rubber from the OEM mounts?

I'm not using them but it's simple to see why...
if you have regular rubber bushings they have more flex then the ES bushings.. so more power gets lost in the vibration transfer to the bushing .... while the ES bushings have less flex and therefore less power is lost in the vibrations and therefore the vibrations are larger past the bushings int he car frame

I'm unfamiliar with what Honda's done for engine mounts... BUT I can offer this general advice. If you have a hydraulic mount for torsional location of the engine (which I have NOT seen with Hondas) then use OEM new replacement part. If, as I know, all your mounts are basically rubber filled - then you will appreciate the urethane. The feel should be not much different than rubber in the winter months - the urethane is about that stiff. My saturn has already thrown up one mount, and now I know two more are gone - the torsional mounts. Same debate has gone on in saturnfans.com - and most ppl agree that OEM has been the way to go, but I'll try out urethane inserts in my OEM mounts. The one I replaced already I put in a Saturn OEM part, but for the torsional ones, I think I can try urethane since they serve a diff't purpose from the first mount.
