ES bushing install...

so how many people have done this in there garage without a press?

i got one complete rear corner done this weekend... i think i got the hang of it now...

i tsn turning point was when i snapped a screw driver trying to get that outter ring of the bushing to come out... i basically took it and grinded it like a flat head screw driver but with a super fine tip.... so it gets between the lca and ring quite well...

i think i got like 9 more brutal bushings to do :cry: i almost wanna just take them to a shop to do and save myself hours of work....

ive only done a few bushings on my car with OEM replacements.

In deed it wasn't the most fun but it wasn't that bad, I didn't have any problems with my air chisel.

imo i would recomend take all your control arms off the car and go to your local garage and ask if they can press the bushings out and in for u they may charge u $25 an arm but just think of the hassle it will save you and not to mention safty of the job its an ugly job.

the second lca i did really didn't take that long... got all 3 bushings out in less then 2 hours... which compared to my progress on the weekend was quite good...

as for taking them to a shop the cheapest i found was $20 per bushing just to remove them... so that adds up to more then the actual master kit pretty quickly..

just gotta put in the new bushings then the entire rear end is done...

My brother inlaw has a shop press and air tools in his own garage... So im laughing... plus hes done this a bunch of times, and offered his help. And all myfront end is already to rock, cuz i have new SIR controllarms and camber kit sitting on my workbench... Rear end sounds like a bitch tho.

Hey rick that article on the ES web site shows how to peal back those lips.. A chissle or punch is your best bet!

yep thats what i did... well actually i grinded the tip of a flat head screw driver so it was really sharp... then used that... works really well...

i just finished up the rear end... kinda sad that the kit doesn't include all the bushings though... but happy cause those rear trailing arm bushings do not look appealing....

ah well guess i'll start the front tomorrow  i sure hope they make a difference
