You just opened a big can of worms with this topic.

Really it depends on hat you want and you budget. You can start with a I/H/E or you can go with a set of cams and maybe some headwork or if your budget allows you can go with a trubo.

custom turbo kit with some proper tuning is the biggest gain in power for best $$$... gsr stock internals can hold 8-10psi of boost or even more if tuned properly

depends on your abilities... install is a big cost. turbo is the best gain... you can run 8-10 for about a year and then your engine is bye bye. that is the downside.
your best bet would be ihe and headwork.

i really dont want to get into this but running 8-10 psi for a year doesnt mean anything.10 psi on a t25 and 10 psi on a T4 is a big difference and i know people who have been running 12 psi on a stock motor for years and its still running.

I/H/E is basic bolt-ons, intake/header/exhaust.

Do a search for other posts like this, Zeeman wrote A LOT of information that will answer you questions better than any of these other posts.

the stock IM on the gsr is actually not crap, just not the best yet... everyone say upgrade to s2 IM, but IMO, that is not the first thing of any built....

if you have $$$, do it at once and do it right...
camshafts, valvetrains, headwork, 4-2-1 SS 2.5" collector, custom exhaust, any intake would do, pistons + proper tuning... you'll be set for nice n/a numbers

but again, if you want torque and lots of power for about the same cost of n/a built (but way more power)... turbo is the answer... and again, engines not necessary fail after a year... proper tuning and how well you look after your engine will make it last beyond a year for sure... and you would look into internals afterwards.... just never be late for oil changes, use the top oils, use the highest octane, check your plugs, make sure your oil temp is good... cool your turbo... etc... problems will occur less if you love your car more =)
