Engine whining noise

Engine whining noise
My B18B makes a whining noise, ever since I put her together.
I think its the alternator, since I put a metal bar on it and listened around the engine... it whines. Even moreso than a turbo's whine.... that is a little noisy.
So what can I do? Would squirting oil ALL over the alternator do any harm? I think I remember my teacher telling me that some electric motors/alternators are actually bathed in oil when manufactured...
Any ideaz?

Alternator
KSR just did the belt, so I doubt that is the problem.
Like I said, I can tell the noise is coming from the alt since I put a metal bar on it and listened to sounds from all around the components of the engine.
I figure its a stuck bearing or some rust inside the alternator... I did buy the alternator from a wrecker (still under warrenty), but got it tested at Crappy Tire... it works... it made a tiny tiny bit of noise at crappy tire too. I figured it would get better with time. I want to douse it with oil, but then again, I want to douse alot of things in oil (lol)
Changing alternators is a bitch. The B18B in my 92 hatch has no space.
Last time I installed it, I had to try unbolting and prying the exhaust away... then I gave up and got a mechanic to do it... he did the same... any tips on how to fit this in?
Can it be done from the top if I move the power steering line? Or is it only doable from the bottom?
Thanks for your concer folks
