engine and tranny swap
What do you guys reccomend?
I 'm running a stock 99 sedan SOHC non VTEC and I'm considering an engine swap if it meets my budget.
Also the car is auto so I would definetly want to change that.
How much would it be to do an engine swap and manual tranny conversion? I think for more speed it would be better to do an engine and tranny swap rather than (headers, exhaust, CAI) Also what engine types do you recomend getting for a 99 civic sedan

decide if you want VTEC first 
Then decided on what your plans for the future are perhaps e.g. gonna go turbo?
Then if you want it, get a B16A if you don't get a B18 A or B.
Both of these are alternatives that should hopefully within your concept of "meeting your budget", unless you have a nice phat budget that I always dream of
Of course the best straight drop (without too much engine work etc) would be a B18C5 or B18C(JDM version). But I think that's insanely expensive

For the best bang for the buck. I'd drop in a B18B first ($1000-1500 labour included). That should be quite a bit faster than your auto sedan right now. Soon enough, you'll think it's slow, that's when you drop a turbo ($2000, custom). Then you'be getting about 250whp, and running 13s in the 1/4 mile. And if you want to go faster after that? Well, by then, EVO VII will be out hopefully, you buy one of those and be happy.
