Just wondering if anyone knows if its possible to swap out a d16a6 piece by piece and then swap in a ZC into a CRX.
What I mean is I'd take apart the d16 and then rebuild the ZC as I install it in my CRX.

Am I thinking crazy talk here?

i'm doing a swap without a hoist....
just on safetly stands...and cherry picker....
if you know what your doing, go for it...
do your research ....

why do all that? just add some stickers (15hp), fart can exhaust(13hp), altezza lights(2hp), intake(20hp) KN air filter(12 hp). see you will have an even faster CRx!! ur hp figures will go from 25 hp, to 87!!!!! WOW you got ur self a track car right there buddy!

In your first post you state that your a Proud Member of MaxBimmer but than later on you said ".... not a member", if you cant remember your a member or not how can you remember numerics since obviously it is more difficult to. And people like you obviously have troubles for everything, besides a sticker adds 100HP to the wheels, not 15 moron.

If you dont want to use a lift, get a hand cable puller from CT, there like $15 on sale, and just attach it to the joists in ur garage.

They can support the engine, since we have one set up in our boathouse an dit lifts our boat out of the water so we can put wood blocks under it to keep it out of the water during winter.

I should been more specific though.

What I mean is i'd take apart my engine while its still in my car.
Kinda as if I was takin it apart to say, replace the headgasket but rather then putting it back together I'd take it all out.

Then when the engine bay is empty I'd so the reverse with the new engine. Do I make more sense now?

Using a ghetto hoist is probably VERY difficuly... you can't maneuver the engine around very well, which makes lining bolts up very difficult (IMPOSSIBLE)

Plus, after lifting the motor out, you'd have to drag the car outta the way, or else get stuck trying to pull the motor to the side...

Even with a proper block and tackle, on a roller beam, I had some difficulty.

*Please, its not worth hurting yourself or your helpers with dangerous setups*

Dropping and inserting the engine from below might be a better option for you, since if it falls off the jacks, it wont fall far (no real harm for the engine either), nor on you. You just have to raise your car high enough...

Actually, my buddies and I did a swap w/o any of the normal tools. We were foolin around with this Huyndai Accent (well two of them). One was fire damaged under the hood, and the other was rear ended....so we fixed the one that was fried and my buddy used it as a pizza delivery car. Anyways, no tools or nothing...just jacked the chassis real high and put on stands/blocks. Then pull up a big jack under the oil pan and unbolt the engine...lower it to clear the chassis, and pull out from under the car. Reverse the process and the new engine is in. It was a weekend project for us.

you could.. i have picked up my d-series block to move it out of the way when cleaning the garage. just make sure you disconnect the tranny first, or it will probably be too heavy.

still getting a cherry picker or like mentioned above a hoist would be a better idea.

Last summer when lifting heavy *** stone we were putting up for a fireplace. It was on a roller beam and we had no problem moving the stones at all, so I dont see why it would be that hard to move the engine.

I saw a hoist from Princess Auto for $79 on sale. It wasn't the full engien houst just the crane part, with a steel bar on the bottom you had to attach to a dolloy or something, but if you know what to do you could probably build one cheap.
