engine swap

Hi All,

I have a 94 integra with B18B motor. I am thinking to replace it with GSR or Prelude motor. Do you guys know the complete swap price? and which shop does it?

thanks,

sir168

Private Message KS-R on this board. But why spend the money on swapping the b18b out? Why not turbo it? You'll have more torque then a VTEC engine and you'll kill a stock or lightly modded b18c1 (gs-r) or h22a (prelude).

building up the B18b to handle high boost would be your smartest choice if you want mad power. But if you want VTEC then get a GSR, Type R or Prelude motor.

research on the side of turbo, you might like you what you find out

Thanks for the reply. My mechanic told me there is some weird noise from the engine. It maybe raced before. This is why I consider swaping it with GSR or prelude engine.

I like the idea of putting turbo too. Any idea how much I am looking at??

Thanks again.

Well for the H22A your looking at around $6500 installed. For that I believe you could get a pretty ncie turbo set up with some of the eletronic goodies and maybe have the block built.

ryuujin: Someone is actually agreeing with me? I'm scared

I saw in some websites. The H22A engine costs about $2500US. I thought I would be looking at $5000 for H22A engine and installation.

I'm looking into this swap myself. Actually I'm saving for it cause it's the swap I'm doing. I'll most likely have KS-R do it in my EG. I don't mind losing power steering and my car doesn't have a/c anyways. There's a guy on the Honda-Tech.com msg board who makes makes a bracket so yopu can keep power steering and a/c. Just do a search I believe his name is Prospeed or something like that.

Also remember the mount kit for this swap is pricey, around $1200 for the HASPORT kit, someone correct me if I'm wrong. You might want to consider getting custom axels made for your car, I am getting custom ones after hearing some of the horror stories, one guy I talked to had a h22 in his 93 teg w/ a turbo and in 1 year he spent $500 on axles because Honda ones break like tooth picks. Another point if you like having your car dumped, and I mean DUMPED, then you will scarpe the header, the down pipe/collector section and might want to look into a custom one. I did today and a local exhaust shop can do it but the engine has to be in the car first. Also you need good suspension to handle the power this thing puts out but it won't affect your handling as much as everyone says it will.

I've learned a lot about this swap so I can help you a bit, PM me or talk to me at the meet tonight if I'm there, guy with the captiva blue eg hatch, also (I like that word ) go on to Honda-Tech.com and run a search in the eg/del sol + forum for H22A, you'll learn a lot.

Hope that helps!
I posted this a few week ago read it. This is why the swap is so expensive.
Also a single race will not hurt your engine. If the engine was looked after (oil changes and regular matenance) it should be fine. Can you tell me anymore about this werid nose your machanic heard? Have you heard anything?

I don't know how to describe it.....when I start the engine, I feel it is noisier than the SiR.
