Engine running/revving issue, need opinions

OK , heres the scenario.

Sometimes the car starts fine, other times it wont even fire, at all. When it is running if you kick the pedal it will stutter , usually backfire, and then rev fine. IF you ease into the pedal its ok . When it warms up it runs a ton better.

I was thinking maybe a TPS sensor or a fuel filter??

ANy other opinion s or similar problems??

THANKS

sounds rich to me... I had a problem with my coolant temp sensor on my Saturn and it made it run soooo rich cuz the maps that the computer was going to were like -50 degree maps, which is when the computer dumps all this fuel in to aid in cold starts. Check your fuel pressure at the rail. Check for appropriate readouts from the sensors... prolly not your TPS nor your fuel filter, though it's a good idea to change to fuel filter as reg maintenance. Also, if no CEL comes on (assuming you have one) it means you o2 sensor has also died from teh overly rich condition, and most likely the same can be said about your catalytic converter. You'll never pass emissions in that kind of shape. Also, check the readout of your MAP sensor.

I'm with bruno on this one, definately sounds like you're running rich.

What modifications have you done to your OEM setup?

like I said, get to the ECU with an ohm meter, and start mesuring each pin input, look at the wiring diagram, and see if it corresponds to what its supposed to be. I LOVE doing diagnostics on cars
