Engine Rebuild Questions

How is it work?
What parts are needed?
If I change pistons, rings and cams, is this called a rebuild?
How much app. cost for a 2nd gen B16A?

well there are complicated rebuilds (precise lot's of steps)

and there are redneck rebuilds (new rings drill honed)

there are tons of specs...liek honing cylinders, and there are different way's to hone the cylinders so....

then align hone the main bearing passage...basically all the honign to make everything perfectly in spec

then ya new rings pistons bearings...cams if you want more hp...but ya if all depends how good the rebuild parts used and shop used...call leitner for a price....I think www.ksrd.com does b series builds

so after doing this would any gains be found power wise?? or would that just be an insurance policy that you'll have a mint motor for a long time??

True - but having to run high test constantly burns holes through wallets....especially at the current prices at the pump...

that total rebuild you will gain abit jsut from having a 100% fresh motor with balanced and lightened internals...not much but you will gain an edge over just a random "jdm" motor....and just bumping compression to 11:1 wont' do to much....tuning is key as stated earlier......and cams, compression, and displacement make hp on n/a motor's....throw some cams (crowers, skunks) on that 11:1 b16 and you will be in business...

it pay's to have a motor done by a good shop wiht "clean rooms" to assemble everythign 100% clean...a redneck build and a precise rebuild by leitner is different...you will have a smooth motor that has perfect compression across the cylinders...so it will make max hp potential...
