engine question

hey everyone....new to the board....i just got a question for you.... would it be worth getting a first generation b16a1 and changing from cable to hydrolic tranmission or just getting a b16a2? i believe i would also have to change the obd as well.

not worth the hassel.

even then the money u will save buying a 1st gen b16, u'll end up spending on conversion parts and time.

go with the b16a2.

Good luck

get the hydro one, newer with more likely lower milage. Plus, replacement parts like distributor cap, wires, plugs, timing belt will be readily available. Other than than, I can't think of why hydro trannies are better than cable. Best thing to do is to get the same OBD series engine as yours. HappyB16 will be able to further assist you I think....

Welcome to the board by the way...

Ya go with the second gen as the first gen has a different spec on the internals in the head. the newer one has more hp. go with a jdm and it will be obd one so no wiring issues. good luck

Lightbulb Not worth it!

True. Even the intake manifold and O2 setup is different on the B16A2. Its not worth the trouble to custom install a cable clutch pedal mechanism as the bracket, plus cost of extra cable.
I did a conversion on a 94 CX in my shop from hydraulic to cable b4, someguy did it wrong the first time then i ended up fixing it.
STRONGLY RECOMMEND GO for the hydraulic one!!!

thanks for the reply guys...i kinda figured that i would be way too costly to go that route even though picking up that b16a1 would be cheaper. has anyone bought anything from streetimports.com? they got engines on their website and they sometimes post engines for auction on ebay....i don't know how reliable they are but if anyone has ever dealt with them before, how was it all? engine, customer service, anything??
