engine problems on 91 civic

Hey all,
I have a 91 Civic as a daily driver and bought it not too long ago.
Well it seems the car is burning oil so I put a thick oil in for now to stop it from burning so quick.
However, after driving the car you could see smoke kinda from the hood and my BF opened the hood and saw the coolant was bubbling over.

Does anyone have any idead what could be wrong here?
When I bought the car they had replaced the head gasket previously but could the oil issue be piston rings?
And what about this coolant issue?

Many thanks,
Anna

was the car overheating? that would cause the cap to fail and leak from there, or even just an old used rad cap would cause it to leak under normal operating conditions cuz its not holding the 13psi its supposed to

well yoru motor is going out the door go get a sohc zc for 400 bux and she will run for a long time...your head gasket might be going again and causing over heating...get your coolant system pressure checked...but either way your motor is half fryed and over heating does not help the matter..

Sounds like the Rad cap is bad, Go to Crappy Tire and replace it and see if that helps. $5 for a new Cap and if that doesn't work atleast you can hang it off a necklace and be a Rad Thug!
