Engine light ?

I took my car in to get in rustproofed at Krown like I do every year and three days later the CHECK ENGINE light comes on...what to do ?

It's always maintained...
2000 civic coupe DX, 120000 km
hoping it's pretty simple like the gas tank cover but it's not...
could the spray have clogged the O2 sensor

where do you get your work done ? engine wise

How do you check codes newer cars, the old onesare under the passenger "feet" right ?

Please help, took my car in to get in rustproofed at Krown like I do every year and three days later the CHECK ENGINE light comes on...what to do ?

any help is greatly appreciated
Please help

The fact that you just got the car rustproofed could just be a coincidence. I have also rustproofed my cars at Krown for years without a problem. Get it scanned first and find out exactly what code its throwing.

Try disconnecting the positive battery lead for a couple mins, this will reset the computer. But i would suggest you get it scanned. first

If you can find it the connector, should be under the dash above the outer passenger kick panel(should be green or blue in colour)

You will find a 2 wire connector, use a wire and jump this connector, turn the ignition to the on postion and look at your engine check light. It should be flashing at this point.

short flashes are counting up by ones

_^_^_^_^_^_______^_^_^_^_^____

this would be code 5

_^_^_^_^_^______^^^_^^^_^^^_^_____ (repeat of this)

this would be code 5 followed by code 32

_^^^_^^^_^^^_^^^_^_^_^_^______(repeat of this)

this would be code 44

try to find code if you feel comfortable reading the light or just go to honda. Going to honda will give you a specific info but this way will give you a general idea of what it could be

Checking your code should be part of the emissions warranty which is 8 years or 130,000 kms. You are well within that range so, take it to the dealer. However, if the dealer diagnosis it and finds that an EVAP component was clogged from rustproofing, they can charge you for fixing it and also for pulling to code because the "defect" was not from manufacturing but from something done in the aftermarket....

go to honda pay them 60$ to read the code and tell you which code number it is, and then take your car back... post the number here, and we can tell you what is wrong, and what to replace... They wont force you to pay to have it fixed right there, thats BS... If somone tells you that, say eat a dick budy give me my car back...lol
