Engine light on?

Engine light on?
Today my engine light came on while I was crusing around, so I pulled over to see what it was.
The first thing I did was check if my gas cap was on properly, and it wasn't. Once I put it on right, the light came off? Could that really set off the engine light, or was it just a fluke that the light came off?

Is this on your CRX DJTre? Cuz OBD2.1 cars will do that, not OBD0 though... The gas tank is now part of the emissions system, it's no longer just a simple charcoal canister like it used to be
