engine idling - help
 

Hey Guys

I am having problems with my engine idling, once the engine is cold and I start it up, engine idler is jumping back and forth, after maybe 2 minutes it completely stops, I already replaced TPS sensor with used one and its doing it again.

give me some inputs plz as to where/what to look for.

I would check vac lines first, maybe clean out your TB if it hasn't been done.

check your coolant level, I'm betting it's low.

any check engine lights coming on? could also be a fried primary O2 sensor.

also try cleaning your IACV with carb cleaner (located on the back of the intake mani close to the firewall side).

only one O2 sensor on a 95 vehicle, and also the LEAST likely problem. he's got air in his coolant system, or low coolant level. possibly a vacuum leak as well... eliminating all those, I'd test the IACV/FITV, and check idle operation with the IACV unplugged.

no lights are on, i replaced the IACV valve and still nothing, coolant was and still is topped up, rad has enough and reservoir is topped up, I checked the vacuum lines, no leaks or cracks.

Why did you replace the IACV and TPS? Did you calibrate the tps sensor?

When you 'topped' up the coolant did you bleed the air from it? If not, that's your problem.

Test your FITV and IACV.. to test the IACV unplug it like B said.. and to test the FITV feel the vacuum over its intake port

i did not calibrate tps, how do i calibrate it?

rotate the TPS until you get 0.5V at closed throttle and 4.5V at wide open throttle. The voltage should increase/decrease smoothly when opening/closing the throttle plate.

I did a good explaination on this awhile ago, search. That's if you don't understand lenny's explaination (which you should)

sure there is enough coolant in there, but did you BLEED the coolant with the engine running and heater on?

Can you elaborate a little more? Can I pop off the rad cap and run the car to have all the air come to the top? or is there some special way to "bleed" the coolant? I have the same issue with my car and needed to get it fixed.

i have the same problem before may be its your throtlebody gasket im not 100 percent sure but that gasket once get bad it will give u idle problem it happen to me twice and i already loosen my patient with my car idle and then when i found out its just the gacket worth 5 dollars what u do is remove the throtlebody start it when it start close it with a plastic cap bigger than the hole of the manifold if the engine die no leaks and then 100 percent its the gasket that give u bad idle problem nand then by a new gasket from honda dealership like parkway honda

To bleed the cooling system:
With the engine COLD, remove the radiator cap.
Start the engine and turn the heat on full heat and full fan speed.
Wait for engine to reach normal operating temp (you can help by revving the engine a bit).
If there is air in the cooling system you will see bubbles coming up from the filler neck.
Once it stops bubbling, top up your rad and install a cap, double check your overflow resivoir level and you're done!

or just bleed it from the bleeder..
