Engine help!
Any help /opinions is grealy appreciated. Im doing a swap ASAP, as for my moter is buring severe amounts of oil out the exhaust and leaving black oil all over my bumper... high km, and way too slow. I need your opinions on which moter I shoud consider. 4Gs is the budjet. .......... Im not racing just looking for some pleasureable power..... Any one that has SIR moter list what you like/dislike about your moter. Anyone with GSR likes/dislike. LS moter..... SI moter....ugh !!what should i go with.....???

93 del sol. I was think it might be best to go with b16a cause they came with them, and it would go right in.

For sure you'll be able to drop in a B18B for $4000 (Should be around $3000-$3500) but not sure about B16.. It might run you a little over $4000.
If not.. maybe a B20 would be an even better choice.
Have fun,

okay i understand the k20 swap is no where close to being affordable, so my suggestion is the high revving B16.
PLUS you get vtech!
too much work to get a b18b to rev reliably to 8g+. oh then there's vtech... IT HAS NONE! what are you gonna do now?? and torque? whats that? it's a honduh!
and you can forget about a b20. isnt that out of the old skool preludes? yah those are reliable
b16 all the way baby!

For street/city driving the b18b is much more friendly than the high revving b16. Yes you can get a **** load of power out of them but if you don't plan to do much, then get the b18b, will make you the king off the line. VTEC is over rated, peaky hp, low torque.
PS: Why would you want to rev a b18b past 8g?

b18b's friendly?? why would you want a friendly motor? you said it yourself. the power is in the b16. which is basically a factory race motor w/vtec. best r/s ratio out of any b-series.
vtech 0wnZ. why do you think everyone is swapping b16's into civics? over rated? i think not. high revs win the $0.25.
Why would you want to rev a b18b past 8g?
you cant, unless you like rods going out the bottom of blocks.
am i being ignorant? maybe
do i like b16's? YES

Why would someone put a B20 in their car? Because of the torque. And yes, it will fit.

oh geez, i wish it was in my car.
something to think about in the future
from waht i read in the thread, it wasnt hard to wire it up. they just used the harness from the k20 and plugged it in the ecu, but i'm sure it wasnt that simple. dont think they want to let out all there secrets that make this swap work just yet. i'm assuming it's like converting obd1-obd2, and vice versa. makes sense.
