Question Engine Flush...it is necessary?

The costco tire centre in my area is offering something call
"Engine Flush". I am wondering is it necessary to clean up the internal of your engine?

It claim by doing Engine Flush will restore engine power, reduce emmission and so on! Have anyone tried it? Is it worth to try?

regards,
Mugen C

How many Km's on your engine? Shouldn't be done to high-mileage non synthetic engine

Hi Dave
I have over 250000 clicks on it, as for synthetic oil engines, used to be treated by Synthetic...but way too expensive, then I switched back.

If you need more info. please let me know! Thanks in advance!

A much safer engine flush is to do the following when you need your next oil change:

Change oil as necessary. Run vehicle for 1 minute.

Change oil again.

Much safer then a pressurized or chemical induced engine 'flush'.

The Above method is only necessary every 25,000km

It all depends on how many clicks your car has...
Engine flushes should be done approx every 20,000km (ideally)

If you do get it done you'll notice the performance on your injectors will improve if they were really filthy.

Just watch your oil level cuz consumption should increase for the first few thousand miles. It's only temporary....once most of the cleaning is done it'll stop. Unless your engine is really crusty or worn, you'll be amazed how long your oil will stay clean after it's flushed.

Engine additives are all junk.. The only thing you should be putting in your engine is engine oil. Anything else is a waste of money.
Sure engine flush is cheap, but still it can do alot more harm than good, especially on a higher kilometerage motor. Many of the rubber/plastic seals and gaskets in your engine can crack or leak from exposure to it.

If you wanna clean out your injectors use Fuel Injector Cleaner which you put into your gas tank, or if you run Ultra '94 religiously you won't need to ever use Fuel Injector Cleaner. Ultra '94 is very clean gas.

Don't flush if your engine is high on mileage.

You may put some synthetic oil and try, and change really frequent(like once it gets dark) and check the oil level daily. Since higher mileage engine tends to burn oil.

I am glad that I asked before doing anything stupid!

Yes, I've been used at least 92 Octane rated Gas for my 4th Gen. (In fact, that's what if mentioned on my Owner's Manual). But I do sometimes put in those Fuel Injector Cleaner.

So according to V33k said, I should consider switching back to synthetic oil for my engine...

Thanks for the inputs!
