ok guys, i have a oil leak, but i do not know where it is coming from there is oil all over the back of the engine it runs down and drips off the drain plug, i was told about engine dye from a shop which would show where the oil is leaking from, but they wanted a fortune to clean and add the dye. well i finally bought some simple green and im gonna go out there tomorrow afternoon before work and clean the engine all down. but i need some help where can i buy this engine dye? is there any affects of using it in my engine can it damage or do anything bad, is it worth using this stuff?

if i just clean my engine will i be able to pinpoint a general area of where the leak is coming from? i know its oil and not ps fluid or any other fluids becuase its the only one that runs low and i hvae to top it up about a quart every 2 weeks roughly usually less than that the oil i mean it just ends up a slow drip off the drain plug onto the road, this is really annoying and i wanna fix it asap

any input would be greatly appreciated

maybe your oil filter isn't on tight enough happened to a friend of mine. he's an idiot.

if ya need some dye lemme know, but ya, once you clean it up you should be able to track it without using any..

want some blue? red? green? brown? yellow?
it's the same stuff they use in oils and greases..you shouldn't need to add much

jugglez i thought it may have been my drain plug or something at first but i did an oil change replaced the plug new filter, the other one was tight when i took it off to, so im not sure where its coming from, looks like it could possibly be the oil pan gasket, but there is just a mess of oil behind the engine its all over the power steering lines and tranny, but i know its oil and not those liquids,

si veloz ill try to clean up the engine by wednesdays meet i should be able to do it tomorrow if i do ill check tuesday to see if i can tell where its coming from if i find it difficult maybe i can try some of the dye you have. thanks alot for the offer
