Engine differences between B- and H-series?

Out of curiosity, I was wondering what are the technological differences between a B-series and an H-series engine? Aside from the size difference, (say B18 and H22), both are DOHC VTEC... so which one is better or more advanced? And in what ways?

Thanks for furthering my Honda knowledge.

agreed, the applications are different, H22 was intended for larger cars (prelude, accord), while the Bs smaller cars like integras and civics....not to say they can't be alternated.....but not the intended idea...

bore/stroke is obviously diff't as are all the castings... I mean, they are two totally separate and unrelated engines, other than the fact they were both designed and built by Honda.

The H does weight more then the B and also it's bigger. But if you plan on building a car strictly for quarter mile racing go with the H but if you like to take it to the track go with the B.

I see... Thanks for the answers guys. But from what I heard so far, those differences are all related to the size of the engine (such as the H weighting more, has larger bore and longer stroke, etc.). What I was curious in knowing are the TECHNOLOGICAL differences. e.g., are there differences between the two implementations of DOHC VTEC? Thing like that...

Thanks guys!

the H22 has a closed deck design while the B series engines have an open deck... there are more differences but basically they are the same the H22 also has a worse Rod to Stroke ratio then most B series engines...

Oops, Leitner, I knew that...! That was just a typo!

So you're saying, even tho the H got the balance shaft, it's still not as good as the B?

I know nothing about engines, but compared to the B and H, the K's got VTC. Wouldn't that make it superior in terms of mid-range torque alone? I also read from Temple of VTEC (www.vtec.net) that it responses to mods really well. A K24 would easily gain like 5% power from an AEM SRI alone!
