Angry Engine dieing for no reason

This weekend i swapped in a D16Z6 in my (93)EG hatch and did the auto-manual conversion. I'm using a P06 ECU for the time being with the VTEC solenoid not wired.
Now heres the problem:

The engine cranks and starts fine. It seems to have an erratic idle (from what sounds like 700-1300rpm). The engine itself will idle for an undefined time and then it will just "die". There is nothing causing this dieing and everytime it dies at different points in time. The car can be driven but whenever you stop to idle, the car shuts off.

I seem to throw CEL code 4 (04 Crankshaft Position sensor.. Fix: Timing belt slipped, defective CP sensor). The Dizzy has been changed with one that was working on a different time. We checked all the sensors with a voltmeter as well as the wiring from the dizzy and everything is to spec.

Edit: Does anyone know what else I could check to make this work? I NEED my car.

Checked for vacuum leaks. no leaks

Car runs fine with throttle applied, if no throttle is applied..sometimes it'll idle after 5 mins..sometimes it'll die right away.

Same CEL code after ECU reset and everything.

common sense would tell me to make sure the CPS is wired correctly 1st of all. get back to us when you get rid of that error code.
