engine code problem
i just put in a d15b its a 92 vtec in to my 95 civic cx. Everything turned out good its just i get a code 20 flashing something like ELD or something like that could anyone tell me what this could be? And how i could fix this.

Electrical Load Detector defective circuit or unplugged / defective sensor - prolly something to do with your alternator... take a look in the Chilton manual. That, or you may have mis-wired the ECU and it's getting the wrong signal.

Electrical Load Detector..
From my experience with this, the civic doesn't have an ELD.. atleast the 93 si didn't.. My haynes manual shows where the ELD is, but when I checked there was no ELD wires at all! It's supposed to be in the fuse box under the hood..
I fixed this by using a chipped P28(D16Z6) to run my motor.. The P13 ecu i had threw an eld code, while the p28 didn't.
Maybe someone else can shed some light on this.. I'd like to know myself why the hell the civic haynes says there's an eld but none can be found.. maybe just the US models?

not knowing the ECU he's running, we can just tell him what the code is Pinout is ECU dependent, so.... we can guess, but it'll prolly be wrong. ELD would have to be there Cablerat cuz it tells the alternator when to stop charging or whatever.
This is from a thread elsewhere: just to demonstrate the wide array of things it could be - but it's clearly no the case here cuz there is no secondary O2 on this motor.
"The one for the secondary oxygen sensor which made sense since it wasn't connected yet and the Electrical Load Detector cel code. When I connected the secondary oxygen sensor it got rid of both codes and then I got to wondering why. In the end, I concluded that since my secondary oxygen has 4 wires... 2 for oxygen sensing and 2 for the internal heating element that the heating element requires power to operate. From this I deducted that the electical load detector must detect the current drawn from the battery for critical engine functions only and from this reading the ecu compensates by having the altenator supply enough power. Since my secondary oxygen sensor heating element was not connected.. the eld circuit was open and as such was throwing a code. As a quick fix... I'm sure I could have just connected a resistor between the two heating element wires and it would have at least gotten rid of the eld code. HMMMM... sounds like an experiment for the weekend."

Yeah I was wondering how the hell it's possible.. Someone with a haynes and a fifth gen, check it out.. see if you can find the eld accordingly to that damn book! Haynes manuals sucks, they are not always accurate.. even my Integra Chilton was wrong.. I remember the engine diagrams it had for the 90 teg were of an 89.. SttoOpid!
