Engine Code Problem

alright heres the story bought this car off a pretty good deal the guys didnt know anything about hondas. Its in alright shape and condition...I buy it get it home, degrease the engine I figure it has just a d16y7 in it , thats what on the side of the timing cover. Well i degrease the bottom half where the engine markings are and it says ZC . I figure SWEET a ZC .... now the car is a 1995 Honda Civic Lx ... it has had a engine swap in it I know that much because a performance shop owned it at one time. im just wanting to know what kinda HP and torque figures am i looking at with this. Is it a bottom end and top end swap or is it normal to see ? The head as i said is a D16y7. not knowing if it matters but the computer is a P06 computer and the car is none Vtech.... Can someone give me some sort of input please if they know anything on this topic.

thank Derek

SOHC or DOHC? and also the DOHC make around 130-135hp. thats not to the wheels though. i just dyno'd my upgraded dohc zc with zex nitrous and only made 159whp. still a cheap setup for the power though.

sorry guys ya it is a SOHC motor

a SOHC ZC will make a bit less than the DOHC but ive heard its a great motor still.

could you not tell if it was SOHC or DOHC just from the head alone? I mean its obvious by how small/large the head is..

imported_special_blend16 03-Aug-2007 05:51 PM

no no guys i said the head is a d16y7.... which is a SOHC
Im thinking what has happened if it is possible is whoever had the car put a zc engine in it, im guessing the ZC SOHC and then swapped the ZC head out of it and just left the bottom end, because any d series head would bolt onto the ZC bottom end....If i am wrong in my theory correct me please, I know this isnt much of a twister of a problem or delima, its just something i would like to know power wise and torque wise
