I notice on a lot of cars it usually says VTECH on the SI models..

I have a 99 SI-G and all it says is honda.. Is this VTECH marking only for american cars?

the only place you'll see v-tech is on the side of a cordless phone:D:p

actually, the american Si is equivilant to our SiR (which has VTEC on the valve cover)
... which means your Si, is equivilant to their Ex (whick only says honda)

if you're talking about the sticker on the side....

the 99-00 SiR has the DOHC VTEC sticker on the side.... and because your's is prolly not DOHC it doesn't say that :)

i have a better question about blocks...anyone painted one yet?....i am thining that heathers looks shitty and needs some black coating or maybe some more blue...may just try to spray carfully

yeha i was thinking of using a wire bursh on a drill / dremel to do most of it afater a good shampoo.

it's not that dirty cause i have cleaned it every summer for her when i do all the cars and i figuer that if i can jut give it a bit of black coat or maybe more blue it may just help dress up that d15 a bit more so she can pretend it's a real engine.

Does my SI-G actually have VTECH lol...

It should have a D16Y8 motor which is SOHC VTEC (there's no "h" at the end) from factory.. if you're not sure pop your hood and look for the VTEC solenoid.

MartinG, what do you wanna know about painting blocks? It can be done with any automotive paint, doesn't have to be high temp. The only thing is, it will require dipping the block to clean it right. Otherwise, you'll never get regular paint to work on it. However, high temp paint can be applied just like that, but the problem is that high temp paint loves to run. No matter how little you try to put on, even in the heat of a summer day, high temp paint loves to run. I imagine this condition is worsened by our arctic weather. I recommend "Aluminium" colour, which is a really nice bright silver. It will really dress up the engine bay and look real sharp against a blue car. I do recommend waiting till summer though.

Oh yeah, and there is high temp paint at Home Depot, just ask for stove or radiator or BBQ paint... Usually there is black, flat black, white, almond, and silver if you are lucky.

yeah i though about take out the block but why do that twice (i plan on a swap later on too) i figures i would use a good cleaner and the brushes to clean it up an duse metalcast by duplicolor due to it nice finish and highly thin spray when used with a good set of grafiti tips (never use stock nozzels) i was even thinging about gold for a bout a minute but i think i am goign to stay with blue cause it will be bright but not too bright....but maybe waiting till my garage is all do would be a good idea (we are in the process of building a nice shop in my garage with EVERY thing but a lift (i tried to convince my dad but he thinks it's over kill) so once it's all dust free and heaters are installed in the celling and floor boards the climate control will be in my hands)

The down side is that it will make the rest of the parts look that much crapper, like alternator and p/s pump, master cylinder, and so on. That is if it turns out well. If not, you have a whole new problem on your hands. I highly recommend not using Blue, cause it'll look like arse if you don't get the right shade. Using silver is a safe bet. I think you should redo the valve cover too in silver. Just my 2c. Metallic blue and regular blue just don't look right next to one another.
