Emissions failed......input needed
k, just got an emissions test done on my 94 civic couple with a D16 in it.
asm 2525:
HC ppm: Limit 82 Reading 261 FAIL
CO%: Limit 0.45 Reading 0.72 FAIL
NO ppm: Limit 636 Reading 2716 FAIL
RPM: 2155 VALID
Dilution: 14.1 VALID
curb idle:
HC ppm: Limiit 200 Reading 368 FAIL
CO%: Limit 1.00 Reading 1.98 FAIL
NO ppm: Limit n /a Reading n/a N/A
RPM: 804 VALID
Dilution: 14.7 VALID
So I pretty much blew over on everything, lol. I did have the cat replaced two years ago when I got the car, would it be time to replace it already? Other then that, any help would be appriciated. Thanks.
Matt

perhaps pull the plugs and check them see what they say...also maybe the o2 sensor all your stuff is messed up so leads me to believe somethin with the o2...your engine light or nothin is on right?

well then chris...............what do YOU think it might be? Of course I am gonna hit the O2 sensor with a volt meter to double check before I spend $100 on a new one.
just reread my post, it did sound like i was just gonna replace it, that's what you get for posting right when you wake up, lol.

lol.
Well.. I would start with things like checking ignition timing, checking for tune-up parts (plugs, wires, etc). I would also hook up a scan tool to check to see if your coolant sensor is functioning properly, use a thermo-gun to check this as well, as well as your thermostat, you may check your cat with a thermo-gun as well.
I noticed you had very high NOx (high combustion temperature) so it may be a faulty egr system or possibly a bad coolant temp sensor, faulty cooling system..
You just have to start diagnosising everything, lol. You failed pretty bad man

is the car stock? I'd start with a tuneup and a ECU scanner. check the ignition timing and fuel trim. check the readings on all the sensors. how does the car drive? like chris said, it could be so many diff't things... start with the simplest/cheapest and work your way up to diagnosing all that. my bet is something to do with ignition timing... but that's just a guess based on what you've told us.

$60 for a cat. pop it on. pass your test, worry about it again in 2 years when you need another $60 cat. woohaw
