Electrical Problem

Hey, I have a strange problem I haven't been able to solve yet.
When I drive my car (93 dx with a 95 si) my handbrake light comes on and gets brighter as the rpms go up.
That's been happening for about 2/3 weeks, and now my car won't start properly, it's as if my battery is dead, but the lights and everything else work fine. I have an optima battery.

I installed an MSD SCI, could the be interfering with the electrical system? (yes, it's installed properly)

What could be causing my Handbrake light to go on like that?

Thanks in advance.

I would check your ground wires. Clean them up a bit.

Also check and see if you have 12.6 ish volts at your battery with the vehicle off and 14.? volts at 1500rpms ish

Maybe when some work was done, the lights got mixed up and your battery light is instead the handbrake light.... in other words, is your alternator charging the battery??

That's a good guess. It seems my alternator is dead :-P
I need a new one. Know of any good aftermarket alternators?
I need something with more power. I have a big system.

Did u check your brakes? The parking brake sensor could be no good. Look near the master cylinder. Try unplugging that and the light might go back on. Check your brake fluid. If it's low it could possible come on. Check to see if your parking brake works properly. The hand brake cable could probably be seized or broken.
