el ecu wiring with y7block y8 head
hi i am doing ecu wiring right now on my 97 hatch and i just wanna make sure ....now i have a wiring diagram to telling me where everything does go but i need to clear up acouple things... like where i would connect vtec pressure switch i know which pin on the ecu but where would it go from there or is this even needed with my setup.. also there is no wire to the knock sensor do i need to connect it since i am running a y8 vtec head from an el or is this not nessacary also.......... and for the iacv what exactely is entailed for it to work properly some say just some wiring on the ecu others say the plug needs to be changed and the wiring..... so let me know oh by the way the head is a 96.. and also i was looking at the iacv plug on the throttle body and it has three pins i know this may be a wierd question but im just cureios as to why it has to be changed to a two wire plug let me know guys thanks

this is kind of confusing.
is the head off an el or a civic?
if the head is off of a 96 then it has to be civic since el came in 97 for the first year.
as for the vtec pressure switch yes it has to be wired into the harness so does the knocksensor. both will be pinned from the harness straight to their socket inputs.

answer to Bbarbulo everything head/manifold, and ECU are all manual from a el .....
to team rukus: sorry yeah its probably from a 97
so the knock sensor and vtec pressure i know where to wire them on the Ecu where do they go from there ? where exactely are they connected to,, or which wires are they connected to ... thanks
let me know guys thanks..

i know where the vtec solenoid is yeah i have the vtec wire its self wired up and the vtec pressure switch need the plug ... so that i pretty much figured those out now with some rsearch
and i also just lately was told that the knock sensor is already integrated in my y7 block and wiring soo does that mean that the knock sensors wiring just needs to be relocated on the new ECU .. if so i can prolly find a wriing diagram for the y7 ECU and switch the right wires for the new ECU... just llet me know about all this stuff
and also my question about the iacv thanks... let me know guys

are you trying to use the y8 ECU?
If so - you'll need to add the KS, and vtec wires. You'll also need to repin the IACV and change the connecor to the EL MT 2wire.
If you're keeping the y7 ecu you'll need a 3wire ile valve from an AT EL or Si y8, and some way ofcontrolling vtec (VAFC, rpm switch, etc).

but the wierd thiing is my three wire iacv sensor plug fits on the fits on the iacv censor..isnt the one on the manifold supposed to be a two wire then? after all this is done the check engine light should also turn off also? and can someone tell me what the light inside the rpm meter stands for because it is on.. thanks
#13
The light inside the Rpm guage is SRS (safety restraint system) or air bags. If your running a D16y8 ecu and intake manifod you need a 2 wire plug for your idle valve(iacv)...the D16y8 uses a plunger type Idle valve while the D16y7 uses a rotary type idle valve.(3 wires)

the 3 wire plugs into the iacv sensor on the y8 mani isnt this not supposed to work if it is supposed to be a 2 wire sensor? does that mean my mani is a auto or something?..... and wouldt it be better to chip my ecu to disable the knock sensor instead of installing one ??
and kinda off topic but about the SRS light wha could this be its only on now that i have the el ecu....
thanks

if you have a 3wire idle valve on the y8 - it sould be on the throttle body - that would make it an AT y8. that will require the AT ECU to run it - and you will throw AT tranny codes (CEL will be on).

thats it then damn i gotta get a manual mani now the guy said this one was but i gess not so somone let me know if everything i say here is right
- get my ECU chipped to disable knock sensor
- change to manual mani with 2 wire sensor and also 2 wire plug
and do the wire fix on the ECU for the iacv sensor..
and my problem should be gone with
right?
and what about the SRS light ... let me know guys thanks so far...
