ek rattlin sound??
 

2000 civic 100000 kms

when i accelerate a rattlin sound starts to appear... sounds like the heat shield...how can i tell and if it is...can i tighten the heat shiled somehwo?

you gotta duplicate the rattle while on a hoist and then try holding diff't heat shileds (make sure the car is cold) till the sound goes away. act accordingly, some of them will have rusted through, some you might be able to fix somehow (if they're bent)

i had the same problem on my headsheald...the 1 all the way at the front right beside the motor on the exaust...i just put a clip/bracket and tightend the upper and lower sheald together...problem fixed....

If you can hear the rattling, the hole(s) is already rusted out, hence it rattles at certain rpm.

Get rid off it, and get a new one from Honda. Get tons of rust proof paint coating on it, then finish it off with layers of high heat paint to make it last a bit longer. Otherwise, just tear it off and let it be.
