Beside the RAD their is a plastic piece preventing air from hitting the engine........it this peice needed????

i think this peice is only found in cars without A/C?

it helps to cool... air takes the path of least resistance, and that would be through the big hole in your rad support if the ac condenser is not there, and not through the rad (which is where you want the air to flow), so thats why they block off the empty hole with that plastic thing...
