I have a 98 dx (y7)..wanted to know if a d15b will bolt up with the intake mani and if its gonna have problems running or anything like that..
engine is a jdm d15b vtec.

i believe thats a obd1 motor.
in which case you will need conversion harness etc if your using the same harness back.
imo not worth it.

so what D-series engine should I go with? y8? I wanna boost it and I heard the y8 isnt all that great..

None of the D series in stock form are great. They're meant to be economy engines pure and simple. They're nothing wrong with the Y8 for boosting AFAIK. Just gotta know what your doing.

from what i hear a d16a or whatever is the best bottom end to use. imo just go d16y7 (because its non vtec) then boost it to your liking.

d16a1 pistons raise your compression up a bit.

imo, just save up for a b-series swap or go the f/i route on your y7.

Swapping a perfectly fine y7 out for an older engine isn't that good of an idea man.

LOL...sorry..I forgot to mention..if it was perfectly fine I wouldnt be swapping it...the piston rings are shot
I was thinking of just rebuilding it with forged internals and boosting it..I assume I'll be able to find forged internals for the y7 with not too much problems..thanks guys.
