EG6 Cluster Problem
 

just bought a jdm EG Cluster and having some problems, the rpm didnt work at first now it seems to be working, but the left turn signal on the cluster doesnt work half of the rpm is lite up (was like that on the heat for my old cluster) the heat says its full, gas is reading wrong, but it was all working fine on my old cluster. any input would help a lot thanx.

My brother had a similar prob after he swapped in a JDM ITR cluster in his Teg.
I used his old plastic circuit board and put it on the ITR cluster and it worked fine.
Very easy to swap. Remove the bulbs and the screws and swap them over. Seems like the bare copper on the board was oxidized a bit, causing the problem

yea but my old cluster didnt have a tach, and i looked and they look different, the problem was with the lights tho, now everything is working BUT, the gas on the cluster says half tank when the old cluster said full tank, and the heat on the JDM cluster goes straight to full as soon as you turn the car on. so its just the gas and heat that needs to be fixed now

I'm certain it's corrosion under the screws.
My SiR cluster was showing 20km/h at idle. I loosened the screws and lightly clean the contacts and problem solved.
Loosen the screws and clean up the copper contacts underneath.

hmmm ill give it a shot, thanx, its actually funny to see thing like this, it says ur going 20, but ur not even moving, lol

k well now the heat has gone down so its at zero, but now the gas says its almost empty, but i have like 3/4 to a full tank of gas, but im almost there, lol

the reason the gas gauge is reading wrong is because when u first installled the cluster u didnt match up that gauge to what your tank really had. Think about it, when u took out the old cluster, it probably was at a full tank according to the gauge, then u installed the new cluster where the gas gauge read 3/4 of a tank. Now its kinda messed and confused....
to fix this problem you should fill up your car with gas, then take the cluster off and move the gas gauge so it reads Full. \

i dont know about that... i didn't have to do that to mine when i installed it,,,, technicaly what your saying is if i get a full tank of gas and my meter is full then i turn my car off and remove half the tank when i turn my car on, my car will think i have a full tank when i really have half..... i don't think it works like that....

some correct me if im wrong but that sounds alittle weird.... doesn't your cluster just display the reading it recieves from whatever it is thats in your gas tank that meseaurs how much gas is in it????

okay the, heres kierans new idea
put your old cluster back in, turn the car up and warm it up, see exactly where the gas gauge is at and exactly where the heat gauge goes, then take out that cluster, put in the eg6 cluster again, pop off the needle for the heat (take it off very carefully, dont wanna break it) and then put that needle back on in the exact same spot where the heat went up to on the old cluster (make sure teh car is warmed up again) now take off the needle for the gas and put it back on again in the same spotthat it was at on the old cluster too. see if that works.

when i messed around with my cluster, i took off the needle for the tach and just put it back on again, then when i was driving, according to the tach i was at 5000 rpm when ideling. So thats what i did to fix it. i took off the needle, started the car (knowing it would idle at 800 rpm) and put on the neeedle so it was ointing at 800 rpm. :)

well i have my car booked in the shop for thursday so ill be working on it there so ill tell them ur idea and see what they think then i guess try it out, thanx

i tired to move the needle to the spot and plug it in and while i was driving it would slowly go down, same with my buddies si cluster turns out his is broken, so i guess mine is also, so im meeting the guy see what he says and i guess get my money back, thanx for the help guys

I did a GSR cluster in a 88 Crx. Can you say wiring nightmare?



Take both clusters. pencil and paper. Mark out the clips on the paper.. like A clip has 12 sockets. Trace each socket though the back of the circuit board find out where it goes... Do this for all the pins on both clusters and compare.

This is the best way to check if its 100% plug and play. Mine even used different wiring clips and VSS and a whole bunch of things.
