effects of light weight flywheel
#21
It is true that Cams and header would be easier to do for the hardcore "do it yourselfer"...But once those mods are done what is the next step that would complement those mods?? Power adders.... Lots of people tend to over look the advantages of the lightened flywheel which is an inexpensive mod (if performed at a shop compared to cam shaft replacement) which will inturn, give you quite noticeable improvement in acceleration...
sohcnotec: Sorry I did not make my words clear about the balancer shafts. You are correct, they do use reciprocating weight to Counter balance the unbalacne of the motor...Where as the Harmonic balancer/dampner absorbs the harmonics created by the engine it self...and in some cases balances the motor aswell.

Yup I have on lightened to 11 lbs .. and I love it, no problems with that weight.. its not over aggressive so changing gears and stuff is not a problem. Was swapping my clutch anyway so if your doing that as well you mine as well get the flywheel done.
