Dynoed b series motors??

Can someone tell me the HP and TQ results for

b16a motor stock

and

b18c (gsr) motor stock??

both japanese???

or if you know about american ones can you write the dyno results???

thatnks a lot :)

imported_ontariorider 11-Nov-2005 07:17 PM

b16a2=168/116 b18c1=178/129....these are for jdm eng. and not at the wheels of course...use the search

imported_SaYjAiBaO 11-Nov-2005 07:18 PM

b series suffer a rough 15% drivetrain powerloss, someone correct me if i'm wrong. so take the horsepower it makes and subtract 15% and you'll get an rough number of what it is at the wheels. jap motors have more hp because they're higher compression i think. if you are thinking which motor to get, get the gsr motor. b16 is a torqueless motor and feels like a d series until vtec in stock form.

sohcnotec 11-Nov-2005 07:30 PM

^^yep, most FWD drive vehicles lose ~15% of their flywheel rated power at the wheels.

that seems about right for my torque figure

i got a jdm gsr b18c

and it dynoed at

145whp

and

117wtq

but my hp figure seems low.....

probably because of the small stock exhaust

thanks guys

zeeman 11-Nov-2005 08:48 PM

seems a little low to me. Should have more hp and tq. I mean stock heathy b16's put out those numbers.

bronx 11-Nov-2005 08:54 PM

im thinking my exhaust is whats keeping the power down...
paul at splitfire told me to change the exhaust and header and ill get around 10whp

could valve lash be holding back the power?
or fuel filter?

zeeman 11-Nov-2005 09:06 PM

yeah a good header and 2.5" exhaust will help.
When was the last time that engine had a tune up?

bronx 11-Nov-2005 09:19 PM

i put in msd wires and iridium plugs last month....

other than that...the motor is the way it came from japan...it was put in this summer

bronx 11-Nov-2005 09:21 PM

did u dyno your motor yet andrew??
what are some thing you have done to yours??

i found a good deal from john lo.....

hes selling buddy club spec 3 or 4 cams, plus retainers, plus valve springs, plus cam gears for 1500

i might pick that up this winter and work on the car a
bit

zeeman 11-Nov-2005 09:33 PM

well i wouldn't really run BC3 or 4's on stock compression.
My b16 made 165whp and 116tq (if i remember right). And thats on a sh1tty tune (vafc2 and unknown chip).

bronx 11-Nov-2005 09:49 PM

thats quite a lot for a b16.......thats how much those motors have at the crank

im guessing you have a good eexhaust, intake, cams, and a few other mods

zeeman 11-Nov-2005 11:46 PM

good guess.
Should be at least 10-15whp more with a good tune.

8.5K 12-Nov-2005 11:50 AM

b16a:141whp 101wtq

b18c1:150whp 109wtq

b18c5:162whp 113wtq

these are close to real world specs with no mods.

zeeman 12-Nov-2005 12:12 PM

cool. My b16 makes as much as a b18c5.

imported_hdave 12-Nov-2005 12:32 PM

^ what mods have you done?

8.5K 12-Nov-2005 12:38 PM

actually

i know for a fact that with the cams that you have a proper tuning you can make 180+whp. trust me. once the 16 starts to sing above 8K they make the power. its about the rev's with the small displacement motors. and, a 4.785-4.9 f.d. in an absolute necessity if you plan on hangin' in the 9K area. i love 16's. that peak soooo late. :yummy:

bronx 12-Nov-2005 01:43 PM

looks like i got strong torque, 117

but my power is a little low, 145

it kills me now cuz i wanna find out whats holding the power back, but i gotta wait for a good exhaust and header to come along

bronx 12-Nov-2005 01:45 PM

paul at splitfire has a really good header for 700
custom made, he said its a lot better than dc or vibrant, something like hytech basically....

I don't doubt that at all.
