B18A/B are NON VTEC motors stick them in a hatch, will be a good killer with some gobs of torque.

u can also mate it to a GSR tranny or ITR, ive driven a hatch with a B18 and a ITR tranny equipped with LSD.. all i gotta say is SICK!

B18A/B LS 1834cc
B16A2 SIR 1597cc VTEC
B18C1 GSR 1797cc VTEC

3500 dollars is expensive for a B16
maybe 3500 for a GSR installed

B18''s non VTEC are any around 1500 no more then 2G's

what car was the b18a/c originally from? earlier integras? How much hp/torque are we talking about here? Where would I pick something like this up from? Also, where would I get a GSR swapped in for $3500?

Ok, and your opinion. Value wise, what would be the best if I am not boosting it? and remember, its a 96 hatch! Would gsr be overkill? I still want a good ride too, but a quicker ride would compliment my hatch nicely!

Why not jsut get an older motor?....Who care's if the car is newer. If your car is running properly and have a fresh cat than it shoudl still pass emissions. And they sell OBD-1/2 to OBD-0 conversion harness'. And you still have yoru old motor as back up in case something ****'s up. That is if you decide to swap.

i think we're on the same boat.

I just want to make my cx a lil bit quicker too. And my budget is $1500.

What i realized is that you can stick if your y7 and just swap the clutch and use a lightened flywheel (12lbs is good). It'll greatly improve acceleration and quicker shifts too.

that wont make much of a difference really, get an Si tranny with shorter gearing, 7lb flywheel and a lightweight clutch and you might notice a difference.

B18b1 into a hatch (or any car) is gonna be fun. If you dont plan on boosting your car i would pick up a B20b/z, and go with I/H/E and that should be good enough for most people.

A lot of ppl recommend b18b with b16 or b18c tranny. But that's way out of my budget.

b20b swaps are hard to find manual trannys from crvs. So i guess ill havta mate it with an SI tranny.

B series and Si(D series) dont mix and match.

B18/B20 with a B16 tranny would be really sweet, but if u drive on the highway at all you will be reving at 5000 doign 120 in 5th. GSR is 3900 at 120 in 5th which is ok for occasional highway driving but not the best for fuel economy.

I would just go get a B20 from an importer with an LS tranny or if u can get the GSR tranny . then you would need the SiR rear engine bracket, SiR drivers side engine post mount, B series shift linkage, OBD2a ECU, etc etc.

well i know boosted_itr is selling a complete '00 b18b swap. How much would installing that engine on a '96 hatch cost?

well the swap doesnt include the ecu, the mounts which is about $200-300 more. Then install is generally $500ish or DIY.

best thing would be to buy it and get the swaps done by someone u trust or someone who come highly recomended.

That would be at the wheels, advertised crank HP is 160 I believe. Go buy a 2003 Focus SVT and get it overwith. 6 speed, awesome gear ratio, 170 hp, sounds almost exactly like a Honda engine, it does indeed have variable valve timing and lift control that sounda very much so like VTEC crossover.
