DX coupe/hatch tranny difference??

Question DX coupe/hatch tranny difference??

To all EK DX owners, whether you have a coupe or a hatch, perhaps you could help me find out the answer to my question...

I found out from the Honda Civic service manual that the tranny on the DX coupe is different from that on the DX hatch. Specifically, the final drive on the two cars are different, while the 1st thru 5th gears are the same. The final drive on the DX hatch is apparently much longer than that on the DX coupe.

But I'm not sure if that applies to the US models only. So I would like to have a survey of the RPM that your engine runs at when you're going on the highway; say at 100 km/h and at 120 km/h. Let's see if hatch owners report different numbers from coupe owners!

Thanks a lot guys. In case you're wondering, I'm considering swappying my Si tranny out for a DX tranny, because I do quite a bit of hwy driving and the DX tranny could really help me save some gas!

Ummm...Why you swapping out a Si for a DX?

Can't you just stop pressing the gas as much? Be gentle and then you'll save some gas!

With my Si, when I drive at 120 km/h on the hwy, it revs at 3400 rpm. If I get up to 140 km/h, it shoots up to 4000 rpm. With a DX tranny, I heard it revs at below 3000rpm at 120 km/h, so a tank of gas could go a long way.
