Is a dust boot required
when i had the car lower, the shop that did the install did not put the dust boot on the new shocks and springs. Is the dust boot necessary or am i better off without.

Well it's there for a reason, to protect the strut rod from dirt, grime, road debris, etc. I'd say it's necessary to prolong the life of your struts.

unless your putting coilovers on then yes it should be there

Mine doesn't come with it, so I didn't bother to take them apart and put one in.
