DOHC zc blew apart the inside of my muffler?

could my zc actually blow apart my muffler? the muffler is from a stock cx. if so, can i install another stock cx muffler? when i shake my muffler i hear lots of metal pieces chinging around. sounds like a cow bell. also and higher rpm it kinda sputters, im thinking its the same thing...all the pieces in my muffler

could it be hurting my performance so much that it lags so bad?

Your exaust isn't necessarily going to rot from the oustide in.
The inside has rotted.

A muffler is designed to take the pulse of the explosions of the motor and let them escape thru the tailpipe slower than they entered.

The inlet and outlet pipe contained within the chamber have hundreds of small holes. The reason the muffler works is becasue it allows the air to expand within the chamber before entering the small holes of the outlet pipe.

Shouldn't hurt performance per se.
