Dude i am pretty sure it is an option when you buy the car so if you didn't buy it brand new then whoever did may have not asked for it. i know with some domestics they started coming standard but with european i am not sure. just look for a plug that should be easily accessed near the hood or bumper openings.

Ross is right, the 2000 Civic does NOT come stock with an engine block heater. You had to order it as an accessory at the time of purchase. I know because I DID order it on my Civic and it was a $140.00 option.

dude i don't know if that is the best rout. in your case with the 2000 civic i doubt your battery is all that bad. the majority of the time, the problem lies with the engine trying to turn over really thicken oil. Because the temperature is so low your oil moves like mollasis and your starter cannot move that. after a few tries the charge on your battery goes for a **** because your alternator isn't charging it cause the car wont turn over. block heaters keep your block and the oil in it at a reasonable temp so you dont kill your battery trying to start it.

I don't believe the plugs have anything to do with it.

well all i would suggest is keeping your tank pretty full and your oil at a 5W30. main probs come from frozen fule lines because of too much moisture in the gas so by keeping a full tank your not allowing too much condensation and moisture build up in your tank. also a good winter oil will not cause too much stress to your engine when turning it over. with winter oil you may have to change more frequently though. A true block heater is never a bad idea though, well IMO anyway.

Of course you can. Just take the car to any dealership and have the block heater installed. I'm sure the dealer won't mind charging you the $150.00 or whatever it is now to install the block heater for you.

a remote starter does not help your car to start. it just starts it without you having to be in it. if a car is not gonna start in -30 temps, a remote starter will not change that.
