Does the brandname matter?

Just wondering if the brandname really matters. I have a set of omni full coilovers and im just wondering if the brandnames really matter or make a difference for front Camber Kits..Some go for around $250 and some as low as $100...

Let me knoww..:D

of course it matters...

yes it does, type of material is used, quality, poorly manufactured, safety etc.

so yes it does matter. well IMO

It's more the quality of product as opposed to brand name that matters. However, quality, brand reputation, and price all seem affect one another.

Generally, you get what you pay for. Price is often a good indicator of the quality and/or rarity of a product.

depends on what its for....obvously engine components you don't wanna cheap out on

basically you need to do your research when making a purchase, regardless of Brandname

i am thinking of going with a cheapo for my camber problems... i mean, its a pretty simple part that is just for adjustment... i mean, there are no spining parts and etc... i'd say if its made of metal and as thick as other ones avaialable... i'm going to try it, those ebay dropzone ones look alright... i am thinking for the rear, but i might go skunk2 for the front becasue the front looks a little more complicated... the back is some sort of bolt or something...

SiR b16a2 17-Apr-2006 09:40 PM

Im not too concerned about the back, planning on doing the washer trick. For the front i was debating the same factor. I know people who bought front camber kits from Ebay for about $80 and they do the same thing as name brand ones. So why spend 220$ on the Omni front camber kit when i can pick up one for about $80. Just want to know the difference between omni and the ones off Ebay and what the major differences are and if they are worth getting on Ebay and saving a couple of bucks.

The only difference is the quality of ball joints and the strengh of the control arm. The omni power has better of both of these its reinforced on the bottom side unlke the ebay ones and has high quality ball joints. Is it worth the extra 150 I don t know depend on you but we are talking about ball joints and I think we all know what happens when one fail....

For the rear washer trick, make sure you buy Grade 8.8 from Home Depot.

When I think about it, a lot of time the quality of the material is the same, but the brand name company spent the time to do research hence, the added price; while others just found out the source of the material and then copied it. You could say that the end product are similiar, if not identical, but you are are also paying for is their research time, labour, and brand name.

I use the omni control arms in the front.

R&D = money.
and companies that dont rip other companies off spend thousands of dollars into this therefore a portion of the product they sell carries on that price tag
