there should be a marking on the dizzy that indicates which one is for the number 1 cylinder (like a letter C circled). From there go in a clockwise pattern 1-3-4-2.
Another way to tell is set the #1 cylinder at TDC so the TDC mark on the crank pulley is lining up with the mark on the timing belt cover. Then remove the distributor cap and mark on the side of the dizzy housing where the rotor is pointing to. This will be #1.

1-3-4-2 is the firing order of the engine. First is cylinder #1 then cylinder #3 then cylinder #4 then cylinder #2.
#1 being the closest to the timing belt and #4 being the closest to the dizzy.
If you can take a picture of the dizzy and i will show you which one goes where.

on the engine when standing in front of the car the cylinders are numbered like so:
4-3-2-1

4 being closest to the distributor and 1 being closest to the timing belt.

See what i mean about there being a little circled C indicating where the number 1 cylinder is on the distributor?

did you install it right?
Are the distributor plugs plugged in?
Is your battery connected?
All of the grounds connected?

Yes to all of them, is their a fuse which could have blown.....i originally did install the wires incorrectly and tried to start the car!

Is their a way to test a faulty distributor?

i would definately check all fuses in the under hood fuse panel.
I would check for spark.
Pull a spark plug out and attach the spark plug wire to the spark plug. Then place it on the valve cover and have someone crank the car over. If you see a spark at the end of the spark plug then its ok....but if your not getting spark then there's something wrong.
Maybe the ignition coil you used was garbage, did you get a new one or another used one?

A USED ONE!

I did have to splice a black wire and attached it together since it went directly to the harness
