distributor question
What is a TD84U distributor from?
I need a dizzy for my 2nd gen b16a and i guy sold me this one claiming it was a OBD1 b-series vtec distributor.
It only has 1 big plug with 9 wires in it while my b16's dizzy has 2 plugs, 2 wires in the one and 7 wires in the other.
I'm in the process of repining the TD84U dizzy b/c all of the wires are the same color. BUT the pins on the TD84 on the dark blue and black/yellow wires are a tiny little bit narrower.
Can i use this distributor?
Thanks,
Andrew

i figured it out....its from a obd2 dohc vtec.
Well i made it work, without having to buy a new/rebuilt dizzy. It took repining of the plugs but it saved me $500. Now all i need to do is get a new bearing for my old dizzy and rebuild it myself for when this happens again.
WHOOHOOO!!!

yeah something like that....mine sounded like grinding that started off as intermittent and after 2 days was so loud people were staring at me, so when i arrived home i parked it and didn't drive it at all.
When i pulled the dizzy out it was so seized that it took putting it in vice and turning the housing with both hands. I am glad i didn't try to start the car after i got home from work that day, it was friday morning.
I ordered a dizzy from parkdale auto parts and when i picked it up later friday evening they got the SOHC (TD42) dizzy instead of the DOHC (TD44). So i got my money back from them and bought a used one. But it turned out to be a TD84 which is a obd2 gsr dizzy so the plug didn't match up to my cars stock (USDM 95 ex) wiring harness, so i repinned the dizzy with the plug from the old dizzy, obd1 b16. But the guy who sold me this dizzy swears its from his 93 b16 (obd1), either way he is nice enough to trade me for his other obd1, he checked and it has 2 plugs, the obd2 only has 1 plug.
