Distributor Help

I just finished my transmission swap, I had removed the distributor to make things easier. I installed it on again but when I go to start the car, it just cranks.

Let me know if you have any ideas.

try taking out the distributor and turn the shaft 180 degrees and try again. Sounds like you got the dizzy in there backwards.

the dizzy only fits in one way tho andrew. i had this problem with putting it in it actually wont go in at all unless you put it in the proper way as it is tappered on one side.

check your wires and possitioning on them for the right firing order.

actually, you CAN fit the dizzy in the wrong way. It doesn't sit flush with the head when you put it in, but once you tighten the bolts it sits flush. I've seen it a few times where someone tried to install the dizzy backwards.
But ya, check your firing order like D said.

Thanks for the replies. I got it installed and it starts now but my timing is messed. I need a timing light to correct it...right?

Right now it is set by hand, I set it in the middle beetween advance and retard.

yes you need a timing light to adjust the timing.
